Why are horses so stupid ?

I just watched the grand national and why do horses continue to run when the riders fall off? It's not like a new thing either they have been doing it since I was a kid

.. i remember being at Newmarket when Steve CAUTHEN was over here, he was riding flat out against the course, like a time trial, stopwatch in his head.
Really something to see.
(the British style a bit more tactical, hold up, win by a head)

Harbinger was for most part of the race another 7 or 8 lengths off the leader Olivier Peslier waited until the final 2 furlongs before giving a bit of reign

Nope.
He is to me, won me a fuck load! His performance in the KG is one of the best of all time. 11 lengths, track record and 5 group 1 winners in behind.

In isolation how about Harbinger smashing up a class field in the King George by about 8 lengths with Workforce behind.
Then Workforce wins the Arc.
So Harbinger is an all time great???

Denman winning the Henesssey of top weight twice has more merit than Kauto winning a King George.

Denman finished in front of Kauto Star 3 times.
Kauto Star finished in front of Denman just once.
